Biophilic Design and Consulting
Enchantment provides biophilic consulting and design services during the pre‑build and planning phase to ensure plant environments are integrated correctly from the start.
We work alongside architects, interior designers, and project teams to evaluate light levels, environmental conditions, irrigation access, HVAC impact, spatial flow, and long‑term maintenance requirements before any installation occurs. Plant and container selections are made based on performance, durability, scale, aesthetics, and how each element will function within the finished space, not just how it looks on day one.
By addressing these factors early, we design plant programs that are cohesive with the architecture, operationally efficient, and positioned for long‑term success once the space is occupied.
Indoor and Outdoor Light Conditions
We evaluate lighting conditions using measurable factors such as light intensity (lux/foot-candles), duration of exposure, distance from natural light sources, orientation, and the quality of available artificial lighting. These variables are assessed alongside seasonal changes, shading, and fixture fixture type to ensure plant selections alight with the photosynthesis requirements of the environment, supporting long-term plant health and visual consistency.
Operational
Efficiency & Flow
The operational flow of a space, including traffic patterns, access points, safety requires, maintenance reach and interaction with furniture and architecture are considerations when designing plants in a space. Plant types, container sizes and locations are chosen to support clear circulation, avoid obstruction and allow for efficient servicing without disrupting daily operations.
Coordination with
Design Aesthetic
We coordinate plant selection, container styles, and placement with the overall design aesthetic of the space, ensuring alignment with architectural elements, interior finishes, branding, and material palettes. Plants are used intentionally to complement scale, color, texture, and sightlines rather than compete with them. This coordination allows biophilic elements to feel integrated into the design of the environment, reinforcing the intended visual identity while remaining functional and maintainable.
Designed for
Impact
Plant environments are designed with a clear understanding that each space has a distinct purpose and desired outcome. We consider scale, placement, density, and sightlines to ensure plants enhance how a space is experienced, using biophilic elements strategically to reinforce the function, mood, and identity of each environment while maintaining operational efficiency and long‑term performance.
